We strongly recommend job walk for most projects. A job walk is a one-time meeting between yourself and any interested bidders. This meeting will enable you to thoroughly explain the project to the Trade Professionals, allow them to ask questions and make sure all bidders are bidding on the same details of the project. This will guarantee you the lowest possible price for your project and provide you with apples to apples bidding. Without a job walk the best you will get is an estimate, an estimate may change as the project moves forward. Many projects may not require a Job Walk. You may be able to receive bids back without a project site meeting saving you and the Trade Professional time. For example – carpet cleaning or furnace cleaning, with a detailed explanation of what you are looking for, a list of the square footage area or attached pictures you may be able to describe the project well enough to avoid a meeting. Some larger projects can be priced with out a meeting if you can attach professionally drawn plans and materials list along with pictures that show the project properly and describe the scope of work you are looking for. If you prefer to meet with each Trade Professional separately, Trade professionals will contact you individually to set up a meeting. Notice – When Trade Professionals review projects individually your chances of receiving alike bids decreases significantly. Each Trade Professional will suggest or recommend different ideas, therefore the job description and pricing will vary widely.

If you have a home project that you would like approved contractors to bid, you can go to "Submit Your Project" on the home page and follow a few easy steps to list your project. After a project has been listed with HomeProjectHQ, an email is sent out to all contractors that have registered on the website and specialize in the type of work you specified. Contractors will have a chance to view the project description and decide if the project fits their skills, schedule and location. If the listed project meets their criteria, the contractor will then purchase the project lead from HomeProjectHQ for a minimal fee. The contractor will then receive the remainder of the project information including the owners contact information. There is no cost to list your project with HomeProjectHQ. This is a free service to homeowners.

This answer will depend mainly on your type of project, the size of your project, your location and your description detail of your project. Larger projects tend to attract more bidders than smaller ones. If you are in a central location you may attract more bidders than living in an out lying area. To make sure all our customers receive equal attention to their projects, HomeProjectHQ works diligently to find a full selection of trade professionals in all areas that will be interested in large and small projects alike. If your project does not receive the attention you were expecting, please contact us by phone or email and we will make special arrangements to personally match you with qualified contractors in your area. To make sure you are not overwhelmed with calls, we limit each project to 3 approved contractors. The more detailed you can be in your project description will help contractors on their bidding. If you can include measurements, pictures, or drawn plans of a project this will greatly improve your ability to receive quality bids. For most projects we recommend scheduling a job walk when you are in need of a project that can not be given an "exact" quote without the contractor physically looking at the project. This will allow all bidding contractors to view the project together. This will also assure that you receive apples-to apples bid proposals and the best possible price.

Only when a contractor decides to select your project for bidding will your contact information be shared. HomeProjectHQ will forward that contractor the homeowners name, address, phone number, and email address.

When you list your project with HomeprojectHQ, you will have a choice to select a "Job Walk" or to have contractors contact you individually. If you select to have a job walk, (recommended for most larger projects) this will allow you to set a date and time for bidding contractors to show up at the project and review the project with you. With this selection you will receive no phone calls prior to the job walk. If you select to have contractors contact you individually, you will be contacted by phone or email (either method you choose) for the contractors to set up an appointment with you to discuss the project.

No, Until the homeowner has selected a contractor for their project, the bid proposals remain private. Once a homeowner has selected a proposal, the final bid numbers are available for viewing to the contractors that bid on the project.
